GOING AUF WIEDERSEHEN PARTY
We really outdid ourselves here. A lovely evening without comparison. free of pretension, anxiety, or unfulfilled expectations.
The day began quite stressful. I believe a healthy benchmark for any relationship is if you and your partner can walk hand in hand out of the big refrigerated box we call Sams Club, without having verbally assaulted them. any day with sams club included you know there is going to be unresolved emotional trauma. It's a fact. Lucky for us, we escaped with minimal damage.
We bought $400 worth of
- LED lights (that we hung through the plumeria trees in the backyard)
- 16 Teal fold up metal chairs (they gave the extra magical decor tough. Good call braebree.)
- 5 bouquets of flowers (that I had so much fun arranging)
- brown rice
- watermelon beach towels
- vases (filled with flowers that we ended up giving the neighbors that called the cops on us at 2 am)
Setting up the party was actually a LOT les stressful than previous times. We had fun doing it and giggled the whole way through. Rigging up the lights, deciding that one big long table was the way to go, arranging the flowers and listening to Tau make weird sounds on the karaoke machine.
By the time I had showered up and re-pinkified my locks it was time to go pick up the smelly Indian food from Maharani and Guests were already starting to arrive.
Everyone showed up on Hawaii time. We went from having enough chairs to having to add another table. The first 20 minutes of dinner I was starving but kept having to grab more more more forks, cups, plates, drinks, toilet paper, babies, ....and then it all stopped. Laurens got the kids out of the pool once, and then twice in between an extra fork fetch, to make a toast.
basically: Laurens, you make all that is our life, filled with vibrant colors that only existed in dreams. We are living our future but I can't wait to see what hues change.
What a fabulous night filled with love, pita bread, karaoke, dancing, and stinky fingers. There were kids running around and jumping in the pool which brought an amazing sense of lightness to the evening. Lolah was camping with Bella so Tau got to be the star of the show.
I will truly miss these people that bring so much joy to my life. But I suppose that's the thrill of moving to a new place, to see if another version of you and them exists elsewhere.
i love you laurens
